Conche a place we all call home 2010-08-28 - All is well, summer is coming to a close here in Swan Hills. Here is the last of the pictures from "The Dedication of the War Memorial", thanks to Pat & Denise for the pictures! 2010-08-23 - George Casey sent me some pictures of the Unveiling of the French Shore Tapestry at Conche, July 27,2010. Thanks George! 2010-08-17 - "The Dedication of the War Memorial" was a great success and many thanks to those that made it happen! Pictures were provided from Regina & Pat but I also added 3 pictures I got from Pauline Hunt Wiseman, so thank you. 2010-08-16 - Well thanks to Pat & Regina, I got some pictures of the "The Dedication of the War Memorial" To those that Died in service of their country. Nice to see picture of William Kenny and his family along with many more from Conche. Great turnout by the RCMP and many thanks to them and all that attended. Many thanks to those that have help keep Ghostcod going with support or just pictures. I see many pictures on facebook but there are many people who don't use facebook as they hear bad things about it. Unless Pat stops sending me pictures, then I will change this site! I won't steal from facebook as if you don't want to send them to me then keep them. Also, facebook pictures are way too small for me to worry about stealing so you can all rest that I won't take your pictures and post them here! Those that visit ghostcod, thank you! 2010-07-25 - Here are some pictures that Jude sent me from across the ocean for you to see how life is there, thanks Jude! August 1st 2010, I'm heading out on the next great road trip to the Yukon, hopefully Dawson City. First 10 days should be somewhere between Swan Hills and Dawson City, sometime in the second week heading to BC to watch the salmon and Grizzly bears collide in Hyder Alaska. Might head to Newfoundland next summer but you never know! 2010-07-12 - Well, Pat sent me a few more pictures for you to enjoy so thanks Pat and hope you all have a great summer! 2010-07-02 - Melanie sent me some pictures from Pat taken in April, May and June so enjoy the pictures and enjoy the summer! Also, updated my own pictures as I do that from time to time, as life is good! 2010-06-20 - Well happy Fathers Day to all and RIP those fathers who have left this world! I posted a few pictures that Gordon Casey sent me about the great sunset on the west coast likely near Corner Brook. Enjoy the day and in August, I'm going to the Yukon likely along the Dempster Highway! 2010-06-13 - Well, I did receive a few E-Mails on the good of Ghostcod from those not on Facebook and want to see it continue. Only thing that gets me is "when I wanted old pictures of Conche I couldn't get anyone to send me any, now they are all over facebook!" Well to each there own and life goes on, we all live and learn! Pat I need some pictures from Sailor Jacks and a few scenery shots that show the true beauty of Conche. 2010-05-31 - Last of the pictures from the 2010 Grad! Just wondering how many people come in and view this site now that most people are on facebook? 2010-05-31 - I have posted some pictures from the 2010 Grad and will post the rest over the next few days! Congrats to all and especially my Niece Melanie who I have watched grow up with the help of pictures from Pat. 2010-05-27 - Well where does this page go from here as everyone is settled in to facebook and I think I did my thing for Conche! The only graduation I was looking forward to,(Congrats to the Grads of 2010 - Melanie, Shauna, Tina) I had to view on facebook! Part 1, Part 2 & Part 3 in the Western Star! 2010-04-26 - Pat sent me some pictures back in 2009 the last dart tournament Tony McGrath played before his departure from this earth. Didn't want to post the pictures so close to his death, so Rest In Peace, Tony! 2010-04-25 - Here are some pictures from Pat taken in April 2010 in Conche. 2010-04-18 - Well another year older and thank you all for the birthday wishes! Here are some pictures from Pat as she moves about Conche in Feb & Mar 2010. 2010-04-04 - The last of the birthday pictures from Brendon's 50th! 2010-04-04 - Well February is gone and Brendon celebrated his 50th birthday on the first! Congratulation on making it to 50th but age is just a number and who is counting? Pat sent me a few pictures this week so here you can go look at them! Was just outside and nothing like looking up in the dark sky and seeing a flock of geese going over likely lost in the lights of the town! A good sign of spring but things can change! 2010-03-06 - 15 Days until the first day of spring and next Sunday morning we spring our clocks ahead one hour. Enjoy as going thru my photos from my trip to the Yukon last summer. This year still deciding! 2010-02-21 - Well, 2 months of winter gone in 2010! Here are some pictures from Pat that were left over from 2009 New Years Eve Party! Was hoping by now the town would have bought the Domain name Conche and designed a site to go with it or they can take this one minus the pictures unless Pat agrees! 2010, I want to go to Alaska for 2 weeks and might take a week and head towards the Arctic Ocean! All depends on the weather, if it's a hot summer I may head East but maybe not! Like to visit all the relatives as we are not getting any younger! 2010-01-17 - Here are some pictures from Boxing Day in Conche from Pat. 2010-01-16 - Well the first month is going fast and life is good and here are some pictures from Pat on Christmas. 2009-12-28 - Well another year is fast coming to an end and what will next year bring. Enjoy 2009-12-06 - Well, I have tested the site with many other computers that have Microsoft Internet Explorer and have had no problems looking at the pictures. If your using something other than IE, sorry but some do handle links differently. Likely, I will never use anything other than IE as it comes with my computer, plus it works for what I use it for. Other than that, if I was in front of your computer, I could fix the problem you are having. Let me know what the problem is and what your using? 2009-12-04 - George I fixed that page for you and if you do find anything that does work, feel free to write me. Here are some pictures from November by Pat so enjoy. 2009-11-30 - Well we made it to December 2009 and in 4 months hopefully it will be spring time in Alberta. Might go home next summer but still that is up in the air as might stay away until Christmas and go visit St. John's. A friend of my brother Bill wrote this poem about his experience. Now I know what people think when they set foot upon the Rock and take the time to experience what it has to offer. Thanks Ed Johnson! 2009-0913 - My condolences & prayers goes out to Phyllis Hunt Bryne & Family on the lost of Don her Husband, Rest in Peace Don! Posting a few more pictures from Pat as a few people came home to visit. 2009-09-12 - Well another day in September and that is good as you may all have seen the picture of my accident playing ball. Getting better each and every day but today it's not as good as yesterday but I will live. Here are some pictures from Krista & Jason's wedding, a few pictures from the Jack & Jill party at the club. A few from the church and some from the reception held at the hall. Other than that, enjoy September! 2009-09-09 - Well it had to happen but if the person who posted the MADD Canada please come forward. I believe in what MADD Canada does but it has made a few people ask me to delete it. As I do believe booze has it's place but I have always wondered what image it sends to children when booze is preached to be bad but sold on parish property. Like all things in your life you never know when you will need the services of MADD Canada. For now it will stay but please remember to support MADD Canada when you can. Guess, I can't make anyone mad at me as I don't get any pictures only from relatives now. Don't know if this webpage has done any good for Conche but I'm sure it has done some good for me to keep attached as I watched Justine, Melanie, Crystal & Devon grow up! Pat will post your pictures sometime this week when I get back to Swan Hills. 2009-09-07 - Thank you for all the kind words for my Grandmother (Mrs Marion Fitzpatrick) as she lived her life how she practice her religion. True to the end and always be remembered in my heart as I saw her last in Conche! My Grandfather & Grandmother will always give me a reason to visit Lewisporte as to drop in and say hi! Rest in Peace Grandmother and pass on to the rest of the relatives we miss you all! Here are some pictures from Rosalind from when her and Tim dropped in for a visit to Conche. 2009-08-23 - Well the last of my Grandparents have passed from this world and with that a part of our family history. Mrs Marion Fitzpatrick (Grandmother) in my heart will always be remembered from her time in Conche and such a friendly warm hearted lady who was always inquiring on what I was doing and how everyone was. As with all the older generation, ready to chat over a cup of tea or coffee with a slice of home made bread with some jam. Many times we would be over playing cards with our grandfather and she would say now Jimmy no cheating but he wouldn't listen and so we all cheated or we would let grandfather win! She seem to be always on the go visiting people and out and about in Conche. Hopefully, her time in Lewisport she got out and did the things she did in Conche. Grandmother loved meeting new people and hearing about their travels thru this world. Now she is reunited with grandfather and all those that went before her so hopefully grandmother is happy and in a much better place away from pain of this planet. Rest in Peace Grandmother and one day we will sit and have another cup of tea with some great homemade jam to talk over life with a nice warm hug! 2009-08-22 - Some pictures from Pat as I think it was going to Goose Cove or St. Anthony and a few people shots for you to enjoy.. Oh, and a few whales... 2009-07-24 - Thanks Gordon for the pictures on taking Billy Whalen & your Wife Marian capelin fishing in Conche. 2009-07-17 - Maybe you have not heard but Tyler & Kelsey had a baby boy name Jack Ellis and you know that makes Johnny (Perry) a grandpa. 2009-07-16 - Here are a few left over from Canada Day, out and about but the rain is killing summer! Gordon sent me some on catching capelin in the beach but he let the wife do all the work. Don't know if I was to post them but will likely later. 2009-07-02 - Here are some pictures from Pat as the people of Conche enjoyed Canada Day 2009. Under some pictures are Newfoundland words and sayings so enjoy. 2009-06-29 - RIP Uncle Mark! Sad thing about when you have to leave home to work you grow apart from the ones you love! This is what makes you grow old, as you miss out on your family history and your time you enjoy together. Always tried to get out and meet all the relatives in St. John's when I got a chance to go back to Newfoundland. Was planning on coming home next year and get out to meet all the relatives! My Condolences to our family and relatives as one day we will all come together again! In the night of death, hope sees a star, and listening love can hear the rustle of a wing. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal. RIP Uncle! 2009-06-29 - Also, uploaded some pictures of Icebergs from Tony & Jude! Thanks 2009-06-28 - Just got back from a trip to Yellowknife in the NWT and it was a quick trip but the black flies, mosquitoes and horse flies were not fun. Didn't see much animals and it might be a better trip in the fall when the northern lights are out. Had a bad feeling about this trip for some reason and glad to be back in Swan Hills! 2009-06-26 - Well, today I'm heading north towards Yellowknife, NWT! It's a picture taking drive and should be back in 5 or 6 days. Will try to keep things updated thru facebook or here! Will post some pictures of my trip when I get back. 2009-06-21- Happy Fathers' Day to all and have a great day! 4 years: My Daddy can do anything! 7 years: My Dad knows a lot…a whole lot. 9 years: My father does not know quite everything. 12 years: Oh well, naturally Father does not know that either. 14 years: Oh, Father? He is hopelessly old-fashioned 21 years: Oh, that man-he is out of date! 25 years: He knows a little bit about it, but not much. 30 years: I must find out what Dad thinks about it. 50 years: What would Dad have thought about that? 60 years: My Dad knew literally everything! 70 years: I wish I could talk it over with Dad once more. 2009-06-20 - Have a happy Fathers' Day and will have to check and update this page with a few more fathers' so enjoy the weekend. 2009-06-20 - Here are a few pictures from Gordon on his visit to Serpentine River with the boss, with all the pictures of her, I think he was sucking up.. lol.. (I didn't release it) 2009-05031 - Well it's the last day of May 2009, soon people will be heading back East and home for a few weeks this summer. Maybe, I will be home next summer but will play a wait and see but Brendon is turning 50 in Feb 2010. Might be a good time to head home and Johnny (Perry) will hit that mark in 2011! 2009-04-26 - Will be in Calgary for a week on a ghost course
for computer software and here are a few
pictures that Murielle sent me from the Carroll Family
Reunion. Then I decided to post a few that Pat sent me on Easter
Saturday. As you will see with the pictures I've been playing as
the snow is falling here in Swan Hills on a Sunday Morning.
2009-04-17 - Well another year older
and maybe wiser but who is counting! Thanks for the birthday
wishes and sorry to say Jim Casey has gone to that great Fishing
Ground in the sky! My condolence to his family and it will be
many sad days as you remember your Dad but remember all the good times!
One father is more than a hundred Schoolmasters. The
greatest gift I ever had Came from God; I call them Mom & Dad!
I've had a hard life, but my hardships are nothing against the
hardships that my father went through in order to get me to
where I started. The fear of death follows from the fear of
life. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time. So
rest in peace Jim and see you in Fiddler's Green!
2009-04-13 - Betty sent me a few
pictures from the party in St. John's to raise money for War
Memorial, so enjoy them and have a nice day.
2009-04-12 - Well had a good weekend and all is well in my
world I think! Trip to Jasper was fun and a day out to enjoy the
sun and a few animals around Jasper. No sign of bears yet and
waiting for the first report of one. I do like people to police
themselves in the guestbook and follow the same rules that
applies to yourself if you had someone who passed on. Give the
family time to notify all and we will all become better people
for it! Other than that, spring is a good time to start new and
get out and meet your neighbour! Have fun..

I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glint on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain. When you wake in the morning hush, I am the swift, uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circling flight. I am the soft starlight at night. Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there, I do not sleep. Do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there, I did not die! Oh I usually honour anyone request if they want me to hang on and wait a few days so the family can be notified. Also, Pat & my mother do advise me that not all the family has been notified and to wait a few days before posting anything. Yes, no one wants to log on and get a surprise that a love one is dead bad enough getting a phone call! I will post some pictures on Thursday, and not God Speed EDNA!
2009-04-01 - April Fools Day, well all I want is for the
snow to start melting! Here are some more

2009-03-31 - Well here are a few
pictures from Pat as she went around Conche in March. Will
post a few people pictures later this week.
2009-03-23 - I have come up with a new plan, but with a
little work I can make it work. I can't wait for winter to get
over and get out in the wild again! Facebook was good at one
time but it has certainly cause me much frustration over the
last few changes.
2009-03-22 - My prayers & love go out to my Aunt Laura and
I hope all goes the way that makes her happy! Don't know what my
plans are for this week but it maybe a good time to plan a trip
to St. John's this year. Was hoping for Christmas but life
happens! I think that is the worst thing about going away for
work, is you leave a lovin family behind and when we get home we
let other things come between us instead of visiting.

Stan heads for that fishing ground 4in the sky! Will always
remember you as a fun loving family guy who like to joke around,
God Speed!
2009-03-09 - My deepest heartfelt sympathy goes out to all
of Nish Whiteway's Family. He was a special friend to those who
knew him and always there to offer a helping hand, a kind word
and a generous smile. He had a sense of humor as wherever there
was laughter, there was Nish. His presence was always strong and
welcome. His absence will be equally strong - he will be missed
terribly, but, his memory will endure within each of us. May the
love and warmth of family and friends comfort and nurture you in
these difficult days. RIP Nish, the waves have calmed, not
like the first time I met you when my father was running the
mail down the shore! It was one of the many times I figured I
was going to die but the angels were watching and we made it to
safe shores. God Bless!

Some
pictures of the provincial volleyball
tournament held here in Churchill Falls the last weekend in
November. The girls from Conche all stayed at our (Steve Power)
house and had a very nice weekend I think. They captured the
silver medal from their competition that weekend, and also the
team sportsmanship banner. Congratulations to them all. As
usual, they represented their school and community quite well.

Grandmother who is celebrating her 93rd birthday!
2008-11-10 - Spent Sunday just watching
the War, watching what they went thru and what they gave up for
our freedom! Makes you wonder what the world today would be like
if there war didn't happen and all those men & women had lived .
So, take the time to give thanks and remember those from the
past and those that are still serving. It was the soldiers that
gave all they had and more so you could enjoy the life you have
now. Rest in Peace those that have gone from this land and God
protect those serving from harm!
Someone asked me "where is your POPPY" I
have two in my truck that I see every morning all year long that
remind me that life is precise and all things around me are a
gift given to me by the SOLDIERS. Besides, I wear a POPPY for a
reason not because it's the thing to do!
One thing my father did teach me, you
don't have to go to church to find God as he is in my actions
and the actions of others as to how they treat others!
There was a line in the War "God please
come and don't send your son as this is no place for children"

Condolence from Fitzpatrick family goes out to the Woodford
family on this sad day for the lost of their mother Mag! Words

2008-10-05 - Well Lar's 50th a few months
into the history books of Conche, here is some
pictures from that night as taken by
Pat! As my move is almost complete but will take a while to get
use to the new homestead but working on it! Got a few more to
post but pictures soon will be my own from my summer trip to BC!
2008-09-29 - Conche has always backed the
soldier, as we all at one time or another has someone in our
family that has served our great country! Even when we didn't
back the government we all always backed the great Canadian
Soldier as he keep our country on the right track thru many
governments! I would like to say I just found out that Deon Hunt
has gone to Afghanistan for 6 months, I would like to say we
should keep in our prayers to return to our fair country the
same way he left it! I know Fred and Nell (Rest in Peace) will
be looking over his shoulders and trying to keep him safe but we
can all lend a helping hand! So, if anyone else knows anyone
that has left our soil to help another country feel free to let
me know as we all like to know who is where and they are safe!
Hopefully, Deon might get a chance to send a few pictures along
the way to show how life is going and he is safe... It is not
the politician who gave you free speech, it was the Soldier and
his weapon! Good luck Deon and may God keep all soldiers safe
all over this world... When I served I wanted to go to IRAQ for
the first war but they wouldn't let me out of the country, I
think I enjoyed life way too much! Maybe, I can get a job at
Tim's and serve coffee as it maybe a great way to get to see the
world and meet some wonderful Canadian Soldiers!

2007-09-18 - Getting close to the last day
of spring and it's almost time for me to move! Rent is getting
high and working for a living has become working for my rent.

due for re-release Sept 15 2008. It will be available in this

happy with my headache, guess too long in the sun yesterday!

not seen in years! Spent the weekend watching the
Fort Assiniboine Rodeo and Parade, took over 2000 pictures! Got

alive! 16 Years I have had a webpage on Conche, that is a long
time but will it see 20 years? That my friend will rely on many
things!
2008-08-10 - Yes, we continue to lose our
faces of the community! I like to pass on my Condolences to the
Flynn Family and Tom is Resting In Peace! Growing up, Tom was a
kind, gentle man who took the time to talk and even when I would
go home in my military days would take the time to talk!
Like Con was good for a good story and always invited you in for
a cup! Didn't have a bad word to say about anyone and always
wish you the best when parting! Hope the last years were good to
him and I'm sure his family will miss him as he takes his last
trip!

2008-07-18 - Looks like I'm back to work
next week for 4 days and then I'm off again! Heading to Southern
Alberta to Lethbridge for 2 or 3 days to see the air show, then
heading to Stewart, BC for a few days to see if I can catch the
bears. So, Pat sent me a few pictures
of work on the road, a farm on the Conche road along with a few
pictures of the Pitcher Plant..
2008-07-10 - Hope all is well on the Rock
and life goes on but sometimes things do bite you! Gas prices
seem to be a big thing this year and hope those that go home,
have a safe trip! I just got back from a 4 day trip to BC that
took me to NWT, Yukon and even got Alaska in. Saw 20 black
bears, Grizzly, Musk ox, Buffalo, Coyote, Eagles and a few other
things! I posted a few pictures from
Scott and then Pat sent me some on Gertie's retirement and
thanks Pat and Scott!
2008-07-09 - Back in Swan Hills, I need
some sleep as 5000 km driving in BC, visited Yukon, NWT, Alaska
and BC! Had fun, need sleep as hard to sleep when I drive but
the rain was a pain. The mosquitoes, they certainly like my
blood! All things will work out in the end and I just comprised
and enjoyed the rain and donated some blood! Going to sleep and
then hopefully the world will be a better place!

2008-06-30 - Well here are some
pictures from Pat and Scott as they
walk about Conche meeting the friendly people! Still have a few
more from Scott but will try to post them before I head to BC on
Thursday! Happy Canada Day down East, and have a save one! Oh,

2008-06-28 - I will be out of the province
into BC exploring from the 1st - 16th or somewhere in between!
Might do some fishing, might look for bears, might look for the
eagle but one thing is for sure I will refreshing the brain!
Might head east for Christmas but looks like a summer vacation
is out of the question east!

June 14th,
Gordon and his son Michael paddled from
Pinchgut Lake
through Pinchgut Brook to George's Lake and back to the cabin on
George's Lake.
2008-06-22 - Funny things always seems to happen in Daniel's
Harbour these days! Elephant and 2 Camels were driving by and
decided to stop and have a snack! Let me know if you have any
problems with viewing the pictures
and the controls are below the pictures!
2008-06-22 - Deleted most of the
pictures going to start fresh and update as soon as I can
with new pictures at 12 at a time or less! Got a few from Pat &
Gordon to add and will go thru the old pictures and add them as
I go! Hopefully, the pictures about the Polar Bear will help
Norway save the bears that show up on there coast! Someone, was
telling me that on the Discovery Channel they were talking about
the Polar Bear is dating the Grizzly!
